Event Objective: Testing the New Zoning Districts and Building Standards on Real Projects
Our goal is to evaluate the application of the new Zoning Districts and Building Standards using three real-world development projects. The process will follow this format:
Collaborative Project Review
Three different development proposals will be reviewed in a collaborative conversation between the permit applicant and a team of city planning staff, focusing on how each project aligns with the zones and building standards.
a. If a regulatory roadblock arises during the discussion, the group will collaboratively explore potential solutions.
b. A small group of 3–4 developers and/or builders will have the opportunity to observe one of the project reviews. This will be followed by an open-table discussion.
Independent Analysis
After the review of each project, an independent consulting firm will provide an assessment of how effectively the project navigated the new code framework.
Q&A Session
The event will conclude with approximately 30 minutes of open Q&A, allowing attendees to ask detailed questions about the Zoning Districts and Building Standards.
Attendance
Due to space limitations—and because some projects may involve non-public information—this will be a private, invitation-only event. All attendance requests must be approved by MOR.
This session will be facilitated by the Missoula Organization of REALTORS® (MOR).
