*This course fulfills NAR's Code of Ethics requirement for the current cycle (1/1/2022 - 12/31/2024).
This class will explore common mistakes made by real estate professionals that are often not realized cause violations of advertising laws in the state, as well as reviewing the N.A.R. Code of Ethics to prevent violations when adverting and using social media. This class will look into current issues often found on signage, ads, social media posts and marketing, online reviews, as well as common issues regarding team promotion, fair housing, and Article 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16 of the NAR Code of Ethics. Students will also learn how to avoid intellectual property claims, RESPA violations and the danger of “re-posting” or sharing on social media sites.

Instructor: John Gillam
John Gillam is a real estate Instructor in multiple states. He is a Broker / Owner of a firm in Colorado and a Qualified Broker for an office in New Mexico. John has been a real estate instructor since 2004 and has always taught from a Broker’s perspective to help reduce liability. As an active Broker, he is fully aware of the issues Brokers face on a daily basis. Through teaching in a variety of markets, he is able to offer a variety of options for Brokers to overcome many of the common practices that lead to complaints and liabilities. John brings experience in general residential, farm ranch, resort, commercial as well as leasing and property management. John is also a Community Association Manager licensed instructor.
