Professional Standards Seminar Course Description
This professional standards training emphasizes the responsibilities of member Boards, elected Officers and Directors and the members of the Grievance and Professional Standards Committees and familiarizes them with the obligations and rights of complainants and respondents in professional standard matters.
Through lecture, game shows, case studies and student interaction, students come away with an understanding of the elements of due process and the role of grievance committee in reviewing ethics and arbitration cases. Students will take a case through the grievance process, participate in a mock hearing and decision making. Diane’s style of teaching helps members learn through doing. Procuring Cause factors will be presented and students will be able to apply those factors in considering who is entitled to the compensation in a cooperative transaction. Procedures for ethics hearings, appropriate sanctions and the importance of writing clear and concise findings of facts is also covered.
